During the 2019 annual NCVH meeting in New Orleans, radiation protection was a topic of intrerest. Dr. Foster was asked to give a presentation in a session titled “Radiation Protection and What You Need to Know”. During this session, Dr. Foster educated the group on not only the effects of radiation, but the effects of orthopedic strain as a result of the cumulative trauma of heavy lead aprons. The 60% incidence rate for spinal issues for those that have been in the cath lab for 21 years or more, was a topic the group would not soon forget.
