Dr. Bob Foster was a triathlete in peak physical health, and one of the nation’s highest-volume interventional cardiologists, when he suffered a second ruptured disk. The injury caused a month-long paralysis in one of his legs and left him out of the cath lab for two years. That’s when he decided it was time to do something about the heavy lead aprons that he believed were the cause of his injuries.

While protection was at the forefront of Rampart’s design, mobility and adaptability were also critical components to the overall design. Essentially, the Rampart team wanted it to be adaptable to the rapidly-evolving nature of the interventionalist’s environment.
